Skin Flooding: The Korean Beauty Skin Hack You Need to Try
There was a time when I thought Botox was my only answer to smooth, plump skin, until autoimmune issues made me stop treatments completely. That shift led me down a whole new path, one thatโs made me obsessed with finding beauty hacks that actually work and lean towards being more holistic and natural for your body. Think: results you can see and feel with consistency, not just quick fixes.
Now, Iโm all in on holistic skincare – especially when it comes to skin barrier health and hydration. Enter my latest obsession: milky hydrating toners and a Korean beauty method called skin flooding, which has completely transformed how my skin looks and feels.
What is Skin Flooding?
Skin flooding is a K-beauty technique to nurture your skin with hydration in layers, helping every subsequent product absorb better. Itโs like giving your skin a long drink of water before layering on your serums and creams.
When done correctly, it helps strengthen the skin barrier, improve elasticity, and create that supple, glassy finish we all secretly (or not so secretly) want.
A few quick tips:
- Use your hands, not cotton pads.
- Apply your toner in thin layers, 3-4 rounds is ideal but the traditional method goes up to 7!ย
- Let each layer dry completely before adding another layer.
- Choose products that are more essence-like in texture (think milky, hydrating, and slightly viscous rather than watery)
Trust me, your skin will feel bouncier and more alive after just one round.
My Current Favorite Milky, Hydrating Toners
TIRTIR Milky Skin Toner
This one feels like liquid silk. It instantly calms any redness or dryness, and leaves your skin super soft like you just did a mini facial at home.
Iโm From Rice Toner
This oneโs all about glow. Itโs packed with rice extract, which helps brighten and even out your skin tone. I love using it in the morning before makeup because it gives that โI drink water all day longโ look.
Farmacy Honey Milk Hydrating Essence Toner
If your skinโs craving comfort, this is it. Itโs thick, nourishing, and smells slightly sweet – kind of like a skincare hug. Itโs packed with barrier-loving ingredients that keep your skin calm and hydrated all day.
The key is finding a hydrating toner that feels more like a milky essence, something that really sinks in instead of evaporating. Once you try it, youโll get why Iโm so obsessed.
Bonus: My Go-To Skin Recovery Mask
When my skinโs extra tired (or just needs a glow boost), I reach for the Medicube Salmon PDRN Pink Collage Jelly Gel Mask. Itโs instantly hydrating and is packed with collagen-boosting ingredients that help plump, calm, and brighten the skin.
