How I’m Decorating for Fall & Getting Our Home Ready for the Season
Decorating our home for the fall is one of my favorite days of the year!
The autumn stems come out, the pillows get switched, pumpkins start appearing around the house and I immediately have my fall essential oils going.
I keep most of our everyday decor but add fall touches all throughout the house. Like warmer colors and those pretty golden fall tones, basically I want to walk into the house and immediately know it’s fall.
I started with the florals because they make SUCH a difference in your color pallet. I added branches from Target that are golden color which look so pretty with everything we already have in our home. Then I did a burgundy colored stem arrangement.
In the kitchen I put a few pumpkins in the woven tray with a small vase of fall stems. I also swapped our kitchen towels for cream and rust.
Pillows are probably the easiest swap in our living room. I kept the neutral pillows we already had and added sherpa pumpkin pillows on the couch because even the couch needed a pumpkin.
For the front porch, I went with a simple wreath and fall lanterns. Will pumpkins be added once we get closer to October? Absolutely. 😂
Now for arguably the most important part: the house has to smell like the season. Every year I pull out the same three Aura Cacia essential oils: Cinnamon leaf + sweet orange + clove bud. 🍊🍂 It smells SO good.
Warm and spicy from the cinnamon and clove, but the orange brightens it up. This is what I have going in the diffuser anytime I want the house to smell amazing during the season! Perfect for before hosting too.
At this point, I associate this exact combination with this time of year. The second I smell it, I’m ready for a slow October morning.
I always keep the house looking like our house and work the fall season into it. It’s my favorite way to decorate for the new season.
And once everything is decorated, the diffuser is going and the house smells like fall? I am HOME. 🍂 Happy decorating girls!!

Taylor <3
