Everything to See, Eat & Do in Bozeman, Montana

Bozeman will always have my heart. Iโ€™ve been coming here for years to visit family, and honestly, it just keeps getting better every time. Itโ€™s the kind of place where you wake up to mountain views, spend the day adventuring (or shopping & eating your way through downtown), and end the night soaking in hot springs or sipping a glass of wine somewhere cozy. A total dream! My little brother moved here for college, and we all just sort of followed him! Itโ€™s such a magical place. Dylan and I lived in Bozeman for a few years before moving back to Tennessee, and we truly love it so much.

And the best part? Bozeman is amazing in every season. Summer means hikes and long canyon drives, while winter is for skiing and savoring hot cocoa by the fire. Fall is golden and quiet in the best way, and spring feels like a fresh start. No matter when you go, thereโ€™s always something to love.

So, consider this your Bozeman game plan! My go-to mix of adventure, food, and little mountain moments that make Montana feel so special. If youโ€™re planning a trip to Bozeman, this is everything you need to do during your visit; all you need to do is pack a bag and show up.

How to Get to Bozeman, Montana

Nearby Airports

Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport (BZN) – My go-to! Itโ€™s small, right near town, and has flights from all of the major hubs. Flying into the Bozeman airport is honestly an elite experience – I actually love to get there early when flying out to eat in the restaurant and sit by the fire in the winter. It is a whole VIBE!!

Driving Into Town

Having a car in Bozeman will give you easy access to the best views, hikes, and so many more fun activities. From BZN, youโ€™ll be downtown in under 15 minutes.

Where to Stay

There are so many options for staying in Bozeman, and where you pick depends on the vibes youโ€™re going for!

Hotels

Kimpton Armory Hotel – The Armory Hotel is a great option if youโ€™re looking for a hotel within walking distance to everything Bozeman has to offer! We love this hotel; it has a great rooftop pool and restaurant. If you donโ€™t stay here, itโ€™s definitely worth stopping by for drinks and apps!

RSVP Hotel – This revamped motel is the perfect spot for a girls’ trip! It is more casual than the Armory Hotel, but is so adorable. The on-site restaurant, Farmerโ€™s Daughters, has the best brunch and coffee!

Airbnb

There are a lot of really great Airbnb properties in Bozeman, but this one is one of our favorites. Itโ€™s a little outside of town (20-minute drive) and is the perfect spot for some true R&R. Itโ€™s nestled in the Bridger Mountains and is so peaceful and serene.

Keep in mind that if you are staying outside of town, you will need a rental car! We usually grab one when leaving the airport.

Weโ€™ve stayed at other Airbnb properties, but this one has been our favorite so far! Thereโ€™s also incredible hiking up at Bridger.

Where to Eat

Breakfast/Coffee

Treeline Coffee Roasters – Home to the best latte in Bozeman! Itโ€™s cozy, local, and makes your mornings a little bit more special.

Wild Crumb – I love popping in here for a sweet treat. They have a great variety of pastries, but I absolutely love their macaroons!

Farmerโ€™s Daughters – The cutest breakfast spot with girly decor and really great food. Itโ€™s right at the RSVP Hotel, too, making it easy to grab a bite if youโ€™re staying for a girls’ weekend.

Dukeโ€™s Cafรฉ & Bakery โ€“ A cozy spot just outside Bozeman with amazing breakfast sandwiches, buttery croissants, and great coffee. Worth the short drive!

Lunch

Finks Delicatessen – This family-owned deli is a great spot to pop into for a quick and easy lunch. The turkey sandwich with red onion is soooo insanely good.

Jam! – A brunch & lunch favorite thatโ€™s always buzzing. The pancakes and Benedicts are so yummy!

Dinner

Brigade – A go-to dinner spot with a delicious happy hour and the best cosmos.

Blackbird Kitchen – Cozy, elevated dining with fresh, local ingredients. Perfect for date night or a special meal.

Urban Kitchen – A stylish downtown favorite with a menu thatโ€™s equal parts creative and comforting.

Fresco Cafe – Casual, Italian-inspired dishes that always hit the spot (the pasta is a must!).

Open Range – Known for its incredible steaks and cocktails – classic Montana dining done right.

Revelry – Trendy, relaxed vibe with comfort food meets Montana flavor. Great for a casual dinner with friends.

J.W. Heist Steakhouse – Havenโ€™t tried it yet (itโ€™s new to Bozeman!), but it looks incredible, and itโ€™s on my list for my next visit.

Drinks/Snacks

Plonk Wine Bar – Chic and cozy with an incredible wine list, perfect for a girls’ night or date night.

Copper Whiskey – A Bozeman staple for whiskey lovers (and cocktails in general!).

Map Brewing – Local brews with mountain views. Map Brewing is casual, lively, and very Montana.

Sky Shed – This rooftop bar at the Armory Hotel has gorgeous views! Elevated and stunning

Late Night/Locals-Only Feel/College Bars

Rocking R Bar – A true Bozeman classic. Big energy, big crowds, and always a fun night out.

Bar 9 – Great for late-night fun, this is a great spot if youโ€™re in the mood to keep the night going.

Crystal Bar – Literally feels like you just stepped onto the set of Yellowstone. Gritty, western, and very โ€œlocals only.โ€

Things To Do

Explore Downtown Bozeman

Downtown Bozeman is as charming as it gets. Spend an afternoon walking the shops, pop into Lucchese for a little inspiration, and just soak in the mountain-town energy. The boutiques here are adorable, and every corner feels like a new discovery.

If you have time, take a short drive to Ennis (about 50 minutes away). Itโ€™s one of those towns that feels straight out of a movie – small-town vibes, friendly faces, and plenty of western charm. My little brother lives here and guides fishing during the summer!

Go for a Hike

Bozeman is surrounded by trails that make it easy to sneak in an adventure. The M Trail is a classic with incredible views, while the Drinking Horse Trail is a little gentler, but just as lovely. For something quick, Peets Hill is right in town and perfect for sunset. If youโ€™re craving a bigger adventure, the Palisades trail is a local favorite.

PS make sure you buy and pack Bear Spray for anytime you are walking outside – better to be safe than sorry! Itโ€™s also really smart to watch some videos on how to act if you do see wildlife to make sure you are respectful and safe.

Take a Yoga Class

If youโ€™re like me and love to stretch it out after a long flight, a yoga class downtown is the perfect reset. Namaha Yoga is one of my favorite studios! Itโ€™s bright, welcoming, and a great way to ground yourself before or after all of the outdoor adventures.

Try Fly Fishing

Fly fishing is one of the most peaceful (and cool) ways to spend a day outside. If youโ€™re up for it, head to Ennis, where the rivers are absolutely stunning. My little brother Spencer is actually a guide in the summer, and I swear, thereโ€™s nothing like spending a day casting in the water with those mountain views all around. Even if youโ€™re new to it, youโ€™ll love the experience. Book with him or another guide from the company and be prepared to have one of the best days of your life. Itโ€™s beyond magical!

Float the River and Swim

If youโ€™re visiting in the summer, you have to float the river. Grab some tubes, head to Axtell Bridge, and spend the afternoon drifting, swimming, and soaking up the sunshine. Itโ€™s one of my very favorite Bozeman traditions. Simple, fun, and such a good way to cool off! Bonus points if you grab lunch at Mr. Burrito beforehand!

Visit Reservoir or Fairy Lake

For something more adventurous, make the trek to Fairy Lake or Reservoir Lake. Getting there is part of the adventure – the road is about six miles of bumpy backroads with no service, so make sure you have a sturdy car. But once you arrive, itโ€™s pure magic. Crystal-clear water, mountain views, and total peace and quiet.

Visit Sage Lodge

Sage Lodge will forever be special to me – itโ€™s where we got married, and itโ€™s still one of my favorite places in Montana. The spa offers a $50 day pass that includes lunch and access to their amazing amenities. Think champagne in the hot tub while looking out over the mountainsโ€ฆ Itโ€™s as dreamy as it sounds. On your way, stop by the Old Saloon – itโ€™s iconic, and the perfect spot for an Instagram-worthy photo.

Do a Day Trip to Big Sky

About an hour from Bozeman, Big Sky makes for such a fun little day trip. The drive itself is beautiful – mountains, winding roads, and plenty of views thatโ€™ll have you pulling out your camera every five minutes. A girlfriend of mine actually did the drive just for lunch at Alpenglow, and she said it was both stunning on the way up and totally worth it for the luxe dining experience once youโ€™re there.

If you have more time, stroll through town, shop around, and soak in the views. And if youโ€™re with a group, definitely consider horseback ridingโ€”my friends recommend Rosie at Jakeโ€™s Horses and Trail Rides, and they said it was such a memorable way to experience Big Sky.
I could go on and on, as Bozeman is growing by the day! I have so many other favorites saved to my IG highlights, too. Let me know if you plan the trip and what your favorite thing is!! XOXO Tay
